Sisters at the Park

15:00

I'm in the mood for portrait photography. I'm itching to pick up my camera and take some photos.

"Gemma-Rose, would you mind being a model for me?" I am wearing my best pleading face.

"Sure!" Gemma-Rose agrees. "Shall we go down to the park?"

Soon we're rushing around, finding charged batteries, changing camera lenses and grabbing shoes. I quickly braid Gemma-Rose's hair before we're ready to go.

We walk down the road, arm in arm. I'm full of excitement. It's been a while since I've done a photo shoot.

Luckily for me, Gemma-Rose is a natural model and understands everything I want her to do. I don't have to give her many instructions.

"What if you lean against that tree?" I suggest.

"I could sit on that gate over there," Gemma-Rose says.

The time whizzes by without us knowing, because we're busy. Finally, though, I suggest we head home. I'm looking forward to sorting through my photos and seeing if I have any good ones.

"Thank you for coming with me."

"That's OK," Gemma-Rose grins. I think she enjoyed our outing just as much as me.

Which photo is your favourite? Do you have a sister or friend who is a willing model? Or are you the model?

  1. These are just gorgeous! My favourite is number 2. You're right about Gemma-Rose being a natural model, it's wonderful to have someone who will pose for you. Do you shoot in RAW? Do you have Photoshop?
I'm doing a graduate course in Portraiture at the moment, I'm putting together a portfolio. I have to present around 20 portraits of all different people and different styles, it's quite challenging!

    1. Thank you! Yes I do shoot in RAW. I used to only use JPEG files, but then Mum and I got Photoshop Elements and I started using RAW.
Wow! That's sounds like so much fun (and a lot of work). I'd love to do something like that one day!

    2. Photoshop Elements, lucky you! Do you use unsharp mask? I've found that makes a huge difference in making my photos "pop".

  2. Sophie, Gemma-Rose sure is a great model! I am so shy on camera. I'm a terrible model. I prefer being the photographer. I love photography but I don't know or do a lot of it.
Your a great photographer Sophie! I love seeing your photos :)

    1. She is! I'm not a very good model either. It's much easier to take the photo.
      Thank you so much!

    1. I'm the one behind the camera as well. I feel so awkward whenever someone takes a photo of me.
