Top Ten Books on my Summer TBR List

19:24

Today, I'm linking up with The Broke and the Bookish's Top Ten link up. The theme is the top ten books on my winter TBR list, but as I live in Australia where the seasons are backwards, I'm changing it to the books on my summer reading list.

The Hunters
John Flanagan
Brotherband Chronicles Book 3

After reading the first two books in this series, I really want to read The Hunters. Brotherband Chronicles is about a group of boys called the Herons, who are trying to stop a pirate, Zavac from stealing the Andomal, the Skandian’s most prized artefact. The Hunters has been on my reading list for a while now, but I haven't yet been able to find a copy. I really want to find out if the Herons are able to track down Zavac.
Circus Maximus
Damian Dibben
The History Keepers Book 2

I only recently got introduced to The History Keepers, thanks to my amazing older sisters, Imogen and Charlotte. The History Keepers is about a team of people who travel through time, saving history. The Storm Begins ended on a cliff hanger, so now I'm on the lookout for Circus Maximus.

Cybele's Secret
Juliet Marillier
Wildwood Book 2

I didn't know this book existed until a little while ago. I read Wildwood Dancing, a retelling of Twelve Dancing Princesses and The Frog Princess, and enjoyed it immensely. Cybele's Secret has some of the same characters from Wildwood Dancing in it. I think it’s about the younger sisters. I can’t wait to find out what they get up to.
Zero Hour
Mark Walden
H.I.V.E Book 6

H.I.V.E is one of my favourite series. It’s about some super villains who are trying to save the world from the conscious artificial intelligence, Overload, who is trying to take over the world. I read the first five books in a matter of days, but our library doesn't have the sixth one, so I'm putting it on my wishlist. Maybe I will get it for Christmas! I really want to find out what happens next, will they be able to defeat Overload, or will he win again?
Heist Society
Alley Carter
Heist Society Book 1

Heist Society is about a con master named Kat who does amazing heists with the help of her good friends and family. I've read the two sequels to this book and I'm curious as to how the story started. Our library does actually own this book (that's a first), so I'm going to have reserve it.

The Seer and the Sword
Victoria Hanley
Healer and Seer Book 1

This is one of Imogen's favourite books. She's always borrowing it from the library. I think the story line sounds cool. It’s set in a fantasy world, with a girl who can see the future and a sword which makes its possessor invincible. It’s just the kind of book I like to read, and next time I see it, I’m going to borrow it.
Flight to Dragon Isle
Lucinda Hare
Dragon Whisperer Book 2

The Dragon Whisperer is about a girl who has an amazing bond with dragons that lets her talk to them. She dreams of joining the SDS, the army of the kingdom and help stop the war against the hobgoblins. I've lost count of the amount of times I've read it. I hope to get my hands on Flight to Dragon Isle soon. I would love to see what Dragon Isle is really like after hearing all about it in the first book.
The Goose Girl
Shannon Hale
The Books of Bayern Book 1

I've heard a lot of good reviews about this book and I really want to read it. I've actually borrowed the third book in the series from the library and it's one of the next books I'm going to read. The storyline of both books sounds interesting. Goose Girl is based on the fairytale, Goose Girl, which I've never actually read, but sounds cool. The main character, Ani, sounds really interesting. I’m interested to see what she does.

Lost
Sarah Prineas
Magic Thief Book 2

I've always liked books filled with magic and so I loved The Magic Thief when I read it. It was about a pickpocket who gets apprenticed to a powerful magician, Nevery. Conn soon learns about the city’s dwindling supple of magic and realises that it’s up to him to save it. Now I'm dying to read Lost. I can’t wait to see what Conn does next.
Master of the Book
James Moloney
Book of Lies Book 2

After reading the first book in the series, The Book of Lies, I want to read the rest of the series. The Book of Lies is about a boy named Marcel who wakes up in an orphanage, with no idea of who he is. He is determined to find out who is, but soon finds that his identity is mixed up in a huge mystery. I'm currently halfway through reading the third book, The Book from Baden Dark and I'm really enjoying it (I couldn't find Master of the Books).

Have you read any of these books? What's on your reading list? Do you have any book recommendation?

  2. I'm reading a book written by Janette Oke, but from those above books I think you are more the type to read "The Bronze Bow" or "The Calico Captive" written by Elizabeth George Speare. You should really check those out!

My favourite would have to be 'Love Comes Softly'.

  3. Oh my gosh, "The Goose Girl" was one of the most beautifully written books I'd read in awhile, I know you'll like it! ;) I'm a writer myself but could never write as well in that genre. When you finish, be sure to do a review! xx
