On Christmas Day, I photographed my brother's cat, Mo. Since then Callum and his wife, Casey, have adopted another kitten (Diesel). Soon after they got him, they brought him (and Mo) around to our house for us to meet.

While they were here, I took loads of photos of the cats. I planned to edit the photos and give them to Casey.


The day after their visit, I imported the photos onto my computer and prepared to edit them. Before I started, I put my headphones in my ears and turned on some of Peter Hollens' music.

I was looking forward to a peaceful morning's work, as I said in a tweet:

Editing some photos of cats, mentally planning a blog post and listening to my favourite @PeterHollens pieces. It's a good morning!

Soon I lost myself in the world of Lightroom and cute cats. It was over an hour later when I took a break from editing.


I went off to check my emails. I scrolled through my inbox. Most of them weren't of any interest. Then one email caught my eye. I stopped, clicked onto it and read.

Peter Hollens (@PeterHollens) is now following you on Twitter!‏

I blinked and read the message again. That couldn't be right. Why would Peter Hollens have followed me? But that's what the message said. I shook my head. Maybe it was a mistake.


Quickly I clicked over to Twitter and checked my followers. Sure enough, there was Peter Hollens name. He had followed my account!

In shock, I closed the lid of my computer. I didn't know what to make of it.


A few hours later, I returned to Twitter. Awaiting me was several notifications telling me I had new followers. I scrolled through the names recognising none of them.

They must have seen Peter Hollens followed me and followed as well, I realised.

That evening at dinner, I turned to Imogen (a Peter Hollens fan). "You won't guess what happened to me today.”

"What?" Imogen asked.

"Peter Hollens followed me on Twitter," I replied.

Imogen's eyes went big. I started to explain the whole story to her.

"Wow!" Imogen said. I nodded. That summed up just what I thought about the whole matter.
